Domino's Pizza of Taos
For the last nine years, Oscar and Ana Arechiga have owned and operated the local Domino’s Pizza franchise. The Taos Domino’s Pizza is run as a family business that involves the entire Arechiga family. Ana Arechiga takes care of the administrative part of the business and also works part-time at Domino’s. Older daughter Ana Karen, 19, also works part-time at Domino’s. Youngest daughter Mayra A. Arechiga, 17, will be a senior at this coming school year. She also works at Domino’s Pizza part-time, Nineteen years ago, Oscar started with Domino’s Pizza as a delivery driver, and his management background led to a general manager position in El Paso, Texas. He was later promoted to a supervisory position. The Arechigas visited several locations, but fell in love with the mountain views, the clean air, and the winter snow of Taos. In 1960, the fi rst Domino’s Pizza outlet opened in Ypsilanti, Mich. From that humble beginning, the company has grown to more than 7, 000 outlets globally and now is the premier pizza delivery company on the planet. The Taos franchise has no dining area, yet its takeout and effi cient delivery services have made Domino’s Pizza the best delivery company in the world! Pizza dominates the menu, and customers can choose from Classic Hand Tossed, Crunchy Thin Crust, and Ultimate Deep Dish, as well as more than 15 savory toppings. In addition to hot fresh pizza, Domino’s has earned a reputation for its delicious side orders. The buffalo chicken wings are a local favorite and are available in barbeque, hot, fire, or plain styles. The menu also features spicy Chicken Kickers, Cheesy Bread, Bread Sticks, Cinna-Stix, garden salads classic Caesar salads, and Coke products: Coke, Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, and Sprite. These side items allow people to enjoy a complete meal with their favorite pizza. “Quality is our main focus, but we also take pride in our speediness,” said Oscar. In addition to Domino’s famed quickness, the pizzas are rigorously scrutinized to ensure customer satisfaction. New employees must complete a 16- hour training program, and their “practice” pizzas are discarded instead of being served to customers. At the completion of their extensive training, they have just 45 seconds to make a 10- point pizza that is evaluated in terms of proper saucing, correct amount of toppings, cheesing, roundness, and other criteria. Every employee at Domino’s is fully cross-trained to give customers the best quality and service possible. Our strategy is simple and is summed up through the icon of a three-legged stool. No “leg” is more important than the other, and it’s all held together by the base which is our people. Our stragedy for success is to put people fi rst, build the brand, maintain high standards and maintain fl awless execution. Exceptional people working together as a team in a smart fun environment focused on integrity.
